I'd called my servicer (GMAC) in order to refi and they gave me a rate which, as expected, was much lower than my current rate. Within a day or so, I received a cold call from MMC. 95% of the time, I don't respond nicely to a cold-call, but the gentleman was very polite, casual, and well-spoken. He simply asked, "would you like a 2nd opinion on the rate/terms?", to which I replied "sure, I can take a few minutes to listen". Ultimately I worked with Jennifer Prideaux and got a rate nearly 1% lower than the GMAC quote (all rates mentioned above are fixed). Besides saving me from gettting my eyes ripped out by GMAC, Jennifer and MMC were great to work with; responsive, took time to explain my options, were sensitive to my busy schedule. I'm considering relocation in the next year or so and will definitely call MMC first. ..... read online here
